The disgraced former MP Taito Phillip Field has failed in his appeal against his conviction and sentence for bribery and corruption.
Field was sentenced to six years in prison after being found guilty of 11 counts of bribery and corruption and 15 of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
In October last year Field became the first politician in New Zealand to be convicted of corruption.
He'd been charged after accepting labour from Thai workers, whom he helped with immigration matters, and then tried to cover this up during an inquiry.
The Court of Appeal dismissed Field's appeal against his conviction and sentence, on all grounds.
In its judgement, it says Field's actions were entirely self-serving, taking advantage of vulnerable people, and lying to himself and others.
It said his highly culpable conduct was totally at odds with his holding one of the highest of public offices.
