Commission looks into register of interests for judges

8:41 pm on 8 March 2011

The Law Commission is to look at whether there should be a register of pecuniary interests for judges.

The Green Party has a members bill before Parliament that would set up such a register, similar to that for MPs, which would require judges to declare their business and investment interests.

The commission says it wants to investigate the need for such a register as part of its review of the law dealing with the courts.

It released a consultation document on the subject on Tuesday.
