Goff warns public meeting on power prices

Labour leader Phil Goff has renewed his warning that power prices will rise if the Government privaitises state-owned electricity companies.

The National-led Government is considering the sale of minority stakes in publicly-owned power companies if it wins this year's election.

Mr Goff told a public meeting in Auckland on Monday that National has learned nothing from its failures when it was last in government.

He says New Zealanders already pay too much for their electricity, and prices will skyrocket if private and foreign owners demand better returns on their investment.
