The latest One News Colmar Brunton poll shows National maintaining its commanding lead over the Labour Party with 54%.
That's up three points from the last poll conducted in February.
Labour is holding steady, up slightly from 33 to 34%.
In the preferred Prime Minister stakes John Key goes up from 48 to 55%.
Labour's Phil Goff also gets a boost, up to 11 from 7% in February.
On the economy, those surveyed were more pessimistic about the next 12 months.
Those believing the economy will improve dropped from 48 to 38%, and the number of those thinking it will get worse increased from 32 to 45%.
The poll surveyed 1000 people, from 2 - 6 April, and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1%.
