Education Minister Anne Tolley is happy that a year after introducing national standards into schools, a report has found a little more than a third of teachers understand them well.
The report relating to the introduction of the standards 18 months ago was done by the Education Review Office.
Ms Tolley says 90% of 237 schools surveyed are either well-prepared or have preparations under way to work with the standards.
She said that is encouraging after just one year in a three year implementation process.
The minister was adamant that the 10% of schools not prepared to use the standards, will be convinced to do so by parents.
