Former broadcaster Maggie Barry has been selected by the National Party to represent it in the North Shore electorate in the upcoming general election.
The seat is currently held by Defence Minister Wayne Mapp, with a majority of 14,500 votes. He is retiring.
Despite the North Shore historically being a strong National seat, Ms Barry says she plans to campaign hard to earn the trust and respect of the community.
The election will be held on 26 November.
