Threatened protest action at a lecture by Hone Harawira at Auckland University failed to eventuate on Thursday night.
The talk at the university law school was almost called off because the former Maori Party MP claimed members of the Young National Party planned to disrupt it.
The event was moved to the university marae.
A handful of students carrying the New Zealand flag showed up for a short time, but there was no real protest.
Two members of the Socialist Party quietly stood on the marae grounds holding a banner.
