Goff has not recollection of briefing on Israelis

9:51 pm on 25 July 2011

Labour Party leader Phil Goff called in the head of the Security Intelligence Service, to explain why he hadn't been given a full briefing on the Israeli investigation.

A group of Israeli nationals came under scrutiny in the aftermath of the Christchurch earthquake but the Government has said no evidence was found to link them to Israeli intelligence.

Prime Minister John Key has said Mr Goff was briefed about the investigation and shown a report by SIS director Warren Tucker.

Mr Goff says he met on Monday with Dr Tucker, who says he flicked the issue past him at a meeting in March, and told him there wasn't much to it.

Mr Goff says he has no recollection of that, and was not properly briefed.
