Bradford wants to stand for Mana Party

3:31 pm on 10 August 2011

Former Green Party MP Sue Bradford has confirmed she wants to stand for the Mana Party at this year's general election.

Mana leader Hone Harawira says Ms Bradford is one of three non-Maori former MPs to signal her interest in standing for the party.

Ms Bradford says she has put her hat in the ring for the Waitakere seat which is held by Social Development Minister Paula Bennett.

Ms Bradford is helping Mana form its welfare policy and will seek to be its welfare spokesperson if her candidacy is successful.

However, she says it will be up to Mana's leadership group to decide what electorate, if any, she will stand in.

Mr Harawira says the party will name its candidates by 14 September.

The election will be held on 26 November.
