Cabinet to mark quake anniversary in Christchurch

Prime Minister John Key has announced the Cabinet will meet in Christchurch on 5 September to mark the anniversary of the first Canterbury earthquake.

Mr Key says the last time the Cabinet met outside Wellington was 1995 in Paihia during Waitangi Day celebrations to commemorate the 155th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty.

Mr Key says the Cabinet will be briefed by Christchurch mayor Bob Parker, Waimakariri mayor David Ayers and Selwyn mayor Kelvin Coe.
