An Auckland woman has complained to the Prime Minister and the police, accusing Tau Henare MP of abusive behaviour in a road rage incident.
Cicelia Holliday says she was driving through Avondale on Thursday last week when Mr Henare cut her off, gave her the fingers and yelled at her.
Mr Henare says the incident is being blown out of proportion.
Ms Holliday says Mr Henare pulled in front of her - narrowly missing her vehicle - without indicating.
She says she tooted at him and he gave her the fingers, twice.
When they pulled up side by side at the lights, she says Mr Henare yelled repeatedly at her: ''What happened to common courtesy?''
Mr Henare's recollection of the incident differs. He says he did indicate to change lanes and raised both hands in surprise when Ms Holliday blasted her horn.
He also rejects her claims about their exchange at the lights.
Mr Henare says the incident is being blown out of proportion. Ms Holliday hopes her complaint will urge Members of Parliament to treat those they represent with respect.
