Marijuana law reform supported by Roy

6:30 am on 27 September 2011

ACT MP Heather Roy supports a call by party leader Don Brash for a debate on marijuana law reform.

Dr Brash said on Sunday it was his personal view that marijuana should be decriminalised.

But ACT Epsom candidate John Banks has rejected the idea, saying that is something he could never support.

Mrs Roy says the law on marijuana is not working. She says the two big parties, National and Labour, are too scared to engage in a debate.

Mrs Roy says they should start by looking at the medicinal use of marijuana.
