ACT 'the same' despite MP changeover

9:19 am on 28 September 2011

Epsom MP Rodney Hide says ACT is still the same party despite the complete change in its public face with all five MPs leaving Parliament at the election.

The one MP who was on the party list, John Boscawen, announced at the weekend he is withdrawing from his number two spot for family reasons.

Mr Hide, Heather Roy and Sir Roger Douglas are not standing again, and Hilary Calvert was not selected for the party list.

Rodney Hide, who was replaced as party leader by Don Brash, says the ACT party is more than just its MPs.

He says political parties do survive and move on after changes in MPs and leaders, and it is important to him that ACT achieves that.
