Gap not too wide to close - Goff

Updated at 9:25 am on 3 October 2011

Labour leader Phil Goff does not believe the gap between his party and National is too wide to close.

Labour is struggling to close the gap with National with the two latest opinion polls indicating Labour about 30% behind.

Mr Goff told Morning Report that polling tells them that voters believe Labour's policies are the right ones and the party just needs to connect them with the party's brand.

He said there is a lack of political focus at the moment because of the Rugby World Cup, but people will start asking questions once that is over.

Mr Goff said Labour is yet to announce its major savings policy.

The general election is on 26 November.
