The Labour Party says the Government should not be claiming credit for a better financial performance by the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC).
ACC Minister Nick Smith has confirmed a reduction in levies for workers and businesses next year: levies for employees will drop from $2.04 to $1.70 for every $100 earned, while employers and the self-employed will pay $1.15 instead of $1.47.
Dr Smith says better rehabilitation rates are one reason the books are in a healthier state.
But Labour says accident victims are just having their compensation stopped sooner, even if they are not fully rehabilitated.
It says the Government can't claim credit for ACC's better financial performance, because claimants are the ones who are paying.
