Hui views awaited by Maori Party

8:46 am on 5 December 2011

The Maori Party says it should know by the end of this week whether it will enter a supply and confidence agreement with the National Party, after a series of hui around the country.

Co-vice president Ken Mair told Morning Report that 30 hui will be held during the next few days.

Mr Mair said there have been no non-negotiable positions put on the table during discussions with National so far.

He said talks have concerned Whanau Ora, employment, education and housing issues.

Mr Mair said he will not pre-empt the thinking of members by speculating on what the outcome of the hui will be.
