The Green Party has agreed to continue its memorandum of understanding with the governing National Party.
The parties had a memorandum in the last Parliament and met on Tuesday to discuss how they can work together during this term of Parliament.
Under the last Memorandum of Understanding, the Greens and National worked together on projects such as the home insulation scheme, the national cycleway and the regulation of natural health products.
Prime Minister John Key said on Tuesday morning he was interested in discussing how an abstention deal with the Greens might work.
Following a meeting in the afternoon, Greens co-leader Metiria Turei says the parties agreed there will be no abstention deal for this term of government.
Ms Turei says they agreed to continue with the memorandum and meet again in the new year to talk about policy areas where the Greens and National could expand on the agreement.
