Police have named the man who died after a quad bike crash on Saturday, on a beach near Bulls in the Rangitikei District.

He was Luke James Randle who was 20.

Police say a group of four or five people had been fishing off Moana Roa Beach at Scott's Ferry in the early hours of Saturday morning, when a quad bike carrying Mr Randle collided with driftwood.

A second man was taken to Palmerston North Hospital with head injuries.

Inspector Ken Climo says the pair were found by the other fishermen soon after the crash, and the police are continuing their investigations.
