Four people are dead after two separate road crashes overnight.
Police in Tauranga say two people were thrown from their car and when their vehicle swerved off McClarens Falls road and hit a tree about 7pm on Thursday.
They say a 43-year-old man died at the scene and a 42-year-old man died later in Tauranga hospital.
Police in Taupo say two people were killed in the early hours of Friday morning when their car rolled on State Highway 5 in Rangitaiki near Taupo.
They say three other people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
