Wellington and Porirua polytechnics are developing a deal to take over the business of a bankrupt computer training organisation.
The private tertiary institution Computer Power went into liquidation last week, leaving 750 students with an uncertain future.
The liquidators PWC announced on Friday that Wellington Instititute of Technology and Whitireia Community Polytechnic are finalising a package that will give certainty to Computer Power students and staff.
They say the polytechnics want to purchase Computer Power's business but not the company itself, which owes Inland Revenue about $8 million.
If successful, the polytechnic's bid would enable students to continue and complete their courses.
The liquidators say further details will be available next week.
