Police in Christchurch say they have charged a 15-year-old boy in relation to an armed offenders squad call out in the suburb of Avonhead on Wednesday.
A house was surrounded for several hours after reports of a man with a gun.
No one was found inside the house, but an imitation weapon was later discovered.
The teenager went to Papanui police station on Wednesday night and has been charged with presenting an object like a firearm.
He will appear in the Christchurch Youth Court on April 10th.
