Auckland Council is launching a solar water heating project to help residents save money on their hot water bills.
The aim is to get more than 250 solar heating systems installed in homes and businesses across the region in the next 12 months.
The council says it is being managed by a North Shore company that will take care of everything from installation to the consent application for homeowners.
Mayor Len Brown is to launch the project on Tuesday at the home of an family that has installed a solar heating system.
