Dunedin police arrest 10 in drug crackdown

Updated at 8:27 pm on 8 May 2012

Dunedin police have arrested 10 people and seized nearly $100,000 worth of cannabis as part of a crackdown on illegal drug activity.

The move follows a four-month investigation into the South Island city's Mongrel Mob Notorious gang.

Police say those arrested are from Dunedin, West Otago and the West Coast and face charges relating to the supply of cannabis.

Detective Inspector Steve McGregor says officers seized just over 8kg of the drug with a potential street value of up to $98,000.

Mr McGregor says four of the men have also been charged with criminal breaches of trust relating to the misuse of $20,000 from a charitable trust linked to government funding.
