Investigators are looking into a third suspicious fire at a coastal township in North Canterbury in as many weeks.
Firefighters were called to the property in Batten Grove at Pines Beach, near Kaiapoi, about 3am on Sunday.
It is the third suspicious blaze at a red-zoned home in the settlement, a pattern Senior Kaiapoi station officer Tristan Roberts said is worrying and disappointing.
He said police and fire safety officers are investigating the cause of the latest blaze, and residents should report any suspicious behaviour to the authorities.
