Police identify missing motorist

Police say the woman who plunged into the Waikato River on Wednesday night is a 40-year-old Korean.

The officer in charge of the Hamilton missing persons team, Sergeant Craig Singer, says her vehicle has been found but the search is continuing for the woman.

The woman was travelling east on the Pukete Bridge in Hamilton when her car broke through a steel railing and entered the river.
