Armed police detain man near Shannon

Armed Offenders Squad members called out to an incident at the Horowhenua town of Shannon have taken a man into custody.
Police were called to Mangaore, just east of Shannon, at about 5pm on Monday.
Blackwood Drive was cordoned off for some time, and motorists were temporarily turned away.
