The town of Ohura in King Country is cut off due to flooding in the area.
Heavy rain in the region has stopped, but a number of roads are closed due to flooding and slips.
Ruapehu District Council says the town itself is fine and the water is receeding.
However, roads in Matiere, to the north-east of Ohura, and in Tokirima to the south remain covered in water.
The Okahukura Saddle Road, which runs off State Highway 4 to Matiere, is closed because of slips, which are expected to be cleared by later in the day.
