A $100 million public transport ticket project in Auckland could be facing a major setback.
The board of Auckland Transport meets on Monday amid uncertainty over the future of the Snapper technology that forms a major part of the plan.
Although the agency's HOP electronic ticketing system is almost ready to operate, the Snapper system used by the region's biggest bus operator is still far from compatible.
Snapper insists it is not leaving Auckland. Auckland Transport will say only that discussions are ongoing.
