Trio appear in court charged with kidnapping

Three women have appeared in court in relation to the kidnapping of a teenager in the eastern Bay of Plenty town of Opotiki at the weekend.

The 17-year-old woman was pulled into a vehicle, taken outside the town and left on the side of the road.

Police say three women aged 32, 20 and 21 appeared in the Whakatane District Court on Monday charged with kidnapping, threatening to kill and injuring with intent.

All three were remanded on bail to appear in court on 11 October.
