Wellington City Council has assessed about 3500 potentially earthquake-prone buildings in the city.
It has another 1500 buildings to assess, which it hopes to complete by 2015.
Fewer than 100 high-priority buildings, both council and privately owned, have been identified, and they will have to be strengthened or demolished by 2025.
