Ticket card test-run successful

Updated at 10:19 pm on 15 October 2012

Auckland Transport says a new train ticket system came through its first week of trials without major problems, although some customers say they are struggling with the vending machines.

Four hundred commuters are testing the card on trains, two weeks before its public launch of the system.

The A-T Hop card allows travellers to make a journey with a single swipe.

Auckland Transport said users on the trial report no real problems.

But Radio New Zealand News found some passengers were struggling with the touch screen surfaces of the ticket machines and the agency acknowledged some will take time to adjust to them.

The card goes live on Saturday week, with the real test coming on its first weekday in a fortnight. It extends to ferries a month later and buses next year.
