Man injured in boat fire

A man has minor injuries after his boat caught fire in the Hauraki Gulf and started sinking.
Police say he jumped from the burning vessel into the sea and swam to Ponui Island at about 4.30am on Tuesday when the fire broke out in the galley. He was rescued a short time later.
The boat was burnt to the water line. It sank and was not recovered.
