Businesses and importers say more strikes at the Ports of Auckland could ruin the region's credibility with international traders.
The Maritime Union says its members at the ports agreed on Monday to look at options, including more strikes.
It has been more than a year since talks over a collective contract first broke down.
The Importers Institute says strike action last year caused huge disruption and the company runs the risk of looking unreliable.
Auckland Chamber of Commerce says the weeks leading up to Christmas are crucial to business.
