Police investigating the theft of mail from the Queenstown suburb of Fernhill have uncovered tens of thousands of letters and parcels at an Arrowtown business.

They say 3000 missing mail items were found at a house last week.

On Thursday officers raided a commercial address in Arrowtown and found more missing mail, which is expected to number tens of thousands of items.

Fernhill residents have made more than 100 complaints to New Zealand Post over the past two years about missing mail.

A 32-year-old woman worker at New Zealand Post has been charged with theft, over the first find.
