Man prosecuted for unpaid tolls

The Transport Agency has prosecuted a man who owed $5181 in toll fees on the Auckland northern gateway route.

It is the first prosecution of its kind since the highway was opened almost four years ago.

Robert Masaberg of Snell's Beach was convicted in the North Shore District Court of 20 charges of failing to pay a toll and fined $1156.67.

The Transport Agency says the rest of the money owed will also be sought from Masaberg. It says the prosecution should serve as a warning to others.
