Police eye hit-and-run as cause of injury

Updated at 10:34 pm on 21 November 2012

A man is in a critical condition in Christchurch hospital following a possible hit and run.

Police say the 44-year-old man was found on Wednesday morning in the driveway of a home in the Russley area, in west Christchurch.

Detective Senior Sergeant Tony Hill says it has not yet been confirmed how the man was injured but the police are looking into whether it was a hit and run.

He says officers have been examining the man's nearby home, and have received several calls from members of the public who have passed on helpful information.

Police are asking for information urgently from anyone who saw any unusual activity in the Yaldhurst Road area near Riccarton Racecourse.
