Southern police are advising motorists of extreme delays in the Lindis Pass after a fatal crash on Monday afternoon.
Two motorcyclists died and another was seriously injured when they collided with a car in the north Otago pass.
The crash happened shortly after 2pm about 20km north of Tarras.
A seriously injured patient has been flown to Dunedin Hospital.
Police say long traffic delays are likely and the road will be closed until at least 7pm.
Motorists are requested to be patient and respect the road closure.
Serious Crash Unit investigators are looking into the cause of the collision.
