Police in Hamilton have named a woman who was hit by a car and killed on Friday.

Eileen Reardon, 77, was struck by a BMW near the intersection of Thomas Road and Cate Rd in the suburb of Rototuna at about midday on Friday.

She was taken to Waikato hospital, but died a short time later.

Police say she was the third pedestrian to die in the Waikato this year.
