Police in Christchurch have arrested a man at a city cemetery, after he made threats to exhume a body.
A police spokesperson says the 25-year old Christchurch man was taken into custody and has been referred to psychiatric emergency services for assessment.
The spokesperson says police were contacted overnight after the man was reported to have threatened to exhume the body of a 90-year old man, after intruding on the funeral for the man on Wednesday.
The man was taken into custody without incident as soon as he arrived at the cemetery.
The grave was not disturbed.
