Arrests have been made in relation to an arson attack at an Invercargill school.

A classroom block under renovation at James Hargest High School was set alight on 3 January this year, resulting in damage estimated at $700,000.

Two men aged 18 and 19 appeared in the Invercargill District Court on Tuesday charged with arson and burglary.

They also face the same charges for the arson of picnic tables at the school in October last year.
