Police confirm body is that of missing teen

The police have confirmed a body found on Saturday in the Clutha River is that of a teenager who went missing a week ago during a boating accident.

Blake Sinclair was 18 when he fell into the river while kneeboarding behind a jetboat.

The police say the week-long search for the teen was difficult because the river was at such high levels.

The body was found after Contact Energy reduced the water levels to help the search.

Searchers found his body in willows on an island above the Balclutha Bridge, about 14 kilometres from where Mr Sinclair was last seen.
