Police in Tauranga say a boy is fighting for his life in hospital after a crash that killed his mother.
A 33-year-old woman died when her car and a van collided on State Highway 2 between Papamoa and Te Puke in the Bay of Plenty on Sunday.
The boy, 14, was taken to Waikato Hospital by air ambulance.
Another 14-year-old boy from the car and four people who were in the van were taken to Tauranga Hospital with minor injuries.
