Meeting on fixing fix level crossings

Updated at 10:26 pm on 27 February 2013

KiwiRail and the CCF Disability Action group will meet on Wednesday to discuss what can be done to fix level crossings in Auckland.

A woman was badly hurt when a freight train struck her on Tuesday, after rescuers could not free her wheel chair from the tracks in time in Morningside.

KiwiRail says asphalt has been put in the gaps along the three sets of train tracks as a temporary fix and will permanently fix the tracks this weekend.

CCF Disability Action says it wants to discuss what other action KiwiRail can take to prevent similar incidents.
