The Fire Service in Christchurch says a large fire plume visible over parts of the city is from a controlled farm burn-off.
A spokesperson said the fire, which is under control, is at Neeves Road, Woodford Glen. He assured people there is nothing to be alarmed about.
Fire crews initially attended the scene, but only one crew remains there.
