A Fire Safety report into a car fire in Gisborne in which two children were badly burned has found the fire was accidental.
The car was parked outside a Gisborne shop last month with the two children inside, while their mother went shopping.
The two children were badly burned and are still in hospital.
The Fire Service says one of the children, a girl aged three, had found a barbecue-style lighter in the car's console and accidentally set the driver's seat on fire.
