Police have almost completed a forensic examination of a house in Mount Maunganui where an explosion occurred shortly before 4am on Tuesday.
A man burned in the explosion is in Waikato Hospital in a critical condition on Wednesday.
Police say a large number of items consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine have been found at the Ocean Beach Road property, as well as 50 cannabis plants.
A search of the property is continuing.
