Council says Aucklanders should sort out traffic problem

4:03 pm on 30 April 2013

The Auckland Council says the Government should let Aucklanders figure out how best to solve the city's traffic problems.

A report made public on Monday suggested ways to raise money for new roads and public transport links.

Within hours, the Government said it would not allow toll charges on existing roads or a regional petrol tax.

But Mayor Len Brown says the Government should hear what Aucklanders want before weighing into the debate.

People in Auckland have two months to submit their ideas.
