Auckland Transport looks to Air NZ to revamp bus trips

7:44 am on 4 June 2013

Auckland Transport hopes to learn from Air New Zealand as the agency explores ways of making bus commuting more enticing.

The agency has hired the consultants who overhauled the way the airline treats customers and is talking of making bus trips an experience.

Chairman Lester Levy said the agency needs to find out what its passengers want.

He said some deficiencies such as overcrowding and poor or n bus shelters are obvious, while new features might include wi-fi on buses.

Dr Levy said a handful of routes might be overhauled next year as examples, before improvements are rolled out more widely.
