Jury sent home over security guard murder trial

7:47 pm on 11 September 2013

The jury has retired for the day, in the trial of a man charged with killing a security guard in Auckland nearly two years ago.

Charanpreet Dhaliwal, 22, was found in a pool of blood at a construction site in November 2011.

The Crown says the Mr Dhaliwal was attacked with a wooden post on his first day at work.

A 27-year-old man, who cannot be named, denies killing Mr Dhaliwal.

His lawyers say he is only on trial because he has been blamed by three other people he was with.

Summing up at the High Court in Auckland, Justice Toogood told the jurors to put their emotions aside.

The jury will continue its deliberations at 9am Thursday morning.
