Arrest made in Bishopdale aggravated burglary

9:19 pm on 3 October 2013

A 21-year-old Christchurch man thought to have been involved in a home invasion in the city on Wednesday night has been arrested.

Detective sergeant Hamish Wilson says he was found in Spreydon on Thursday afternoon by a mobile patrol making unrelated enquiries.

He has been charged with aggravated burglary and will appear in the Christchurch District Court on Friday.

The police are still trying to find three other suspected offenders, described as Maori or Polynesian, as well as several thousand dollars' worth of electronic equipment.

Mr Wilson says police were called to a house in Raleigh Street in Bishopdale about 9.15pm on Wednesday.

He says the man was confronted at his front door by three men, one of whom was armed with a weapon.

After an altercation, the trio unsuccessfully tried to restrain the man using duct tape before shutting him in a cupboard.

Mr Wilson says the man was able to free himself after the offenders left.
